My Approach: Wellness Coaching + Lifestyle Medicine

You guessed it, I’m also a lifestyle medicine practitioner. My strong belief in its efficiency has even led me to complete several lifestyle medicine certifications in order to better help my clients. Together, wellness coaching and lifestyle medicine help them make changes that increase their quality of life now and for the rest of their lives. It trully is a winning combination!

Strict Adherence to Public Health Groups Guidelines
As a Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I offer current lifestyle medicine evidence-based recommendations and guidelines provided by American and Canadian public health groups: the Center for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Health Canada, and the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec.

In my 20 years as a social worker I worked with women who, just like you, wanted to bring change into their lives.

It’s too late for me to help my 88 year-old mother who is now in the last stage of Alzheimer’s disease. What I do now is help people avoid her sad fate. Everyone deserves to be able to live life to the fullest extent possible for as long as possible. Let me help you get there by supporting you in adopting and sustaining new healthy behaviors!

Health and wellness coaches work with individuals and groups in a client-centered process to facilitate and empower the client to develop and achieve self-determined goals related to health and wellness.

Learn about yourself
Coaches support clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources, and in developing self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle, behavior changes.

Benefit from unconditional support
As partners and facilitators, health and wellness coaches support their clients in achieving health goals and behavioral change based on their clients’ own goals and consistent with treatment plans as prescribed by individual clients’ professional health care providers.

Become empowered!
Coaches assist clients to use their insight, personal strengths and resources, goal setting, action steps and accountability toward healthy lifestyle change. (Source)

 

Coaching Steps

I coach by phone and Skype/What’s App/etc. (audio only) so we can talk wherever you are.

  1. You provide background information through various assessments, so that you and me are both well informed on the key issues, including medical considerations, as appropriate.
  2. During the first 60–90 minute coaching session, you identify your priorities and develop a personal wellness plan including a vision, three months’ goals and the first steps.
  3. In subsequent 30–40 minute coaching sessions (every week, second week, month, or quarter—depending on the frequency of your sessions) with me, you will:
    • review the progress toward your vision and goals
    • explore and resolve the most pressing issues
    • learn something new
    • agree on a set of goals for the following week
    • enjoy plenty of ah-hah insights along the way!
